Lake Toxaway is surrounded by a wealth of cultural opportunities – both to experience and create. The Western North Carolina region is recognized as a cultural treasure trove, offering a wide range of specialty crafts, fine arts, theater, music, and festivals of every sort.

Music on the Mountain – Enjoy live music in the beautiful Meadow Ridge in Lake Toxaway Estates on several evenings from June through October. Each season features artists such as the Caribbean Cowboys, Carolina Rex, the Crosstie Walkers, and the Wild Hog Band.

Lake Toxaway Estates Painters Guild – This organization of artists in Lake Toxaway sponsors an annual Art Show at the Lake Toxaway Country Club’s main clubhouse each October.

Lake Toxaway Community Center – Every Friday from 7:00pm to 10:00 pm, the Lake Toxaway Community Center features local musicians, playing country, bluegrass, and gospel music. Dinner is served from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. For more information, call (828) 966-4060.

Arts of Brevard – On online directory of arts-related businesses, organizations, locales, classes, and artists/performers, which includes a searchable calendar of events. Its goal is to include all serious artists, emerging as well as world renowned, all arts venues, and all arts events from Transylvania County.

Brevard Music Center – Founded in 1936, the Brevard Music Center has matured into one of this country’s premier summer training programs and festivals. For seven weeks, students participate in a vigorous program of instruction that includes ensembles, private lessons, and chamber music. Each summer, faculty and students work together to present more than 80 concerts to the public, with total audience numbers of more than 30,000.

Porter Center for the Performing Arts – Inaugurated in 1998, the Porter Center for Performing Arts at Brevard College has quickly earned a reputation as one of the finest performance halls in the South. Scott Concert Hall has seating for 700 people, superlative acoustics, and unobstructed sightlines. The large stage can house a full symphony, yet it can be intimate enough for a solo piano recital. The Porter Center’s acclaimed concert series has brought in some of the world’s most talented musicians in a dizzying array of styles: from Doc Watson to Herbie Hancock, from Harry Belafonte to the Emerson String Quartet, from Leahy to the Afro-Cuban All-Stars. It is also a gathering spot for some of the groups that populate Transylvania County’s amazingly rich cultural scene – The Brevard Philharmonic, Brevard Little Theatre, The Brevard Community Band, Transylvania Choral Society, and more.

Scenic 276 Arts Corridor – This 13-mile stretch of road from Brevard to the NC/SC state line is dotted with art galleries, working and teaching studios, shops, charming lodgings, home-style dining, and fresh local produce. You can even meet the artists at many of the studios, which feature pottery, glass art, paintings, sculpture, photography, metal work, and more.
