“The renovations to the Lake Toxaway course have made it a fun and challenging test of golf. It’s now a course I look forward to playing while on vacation and one that can keep me sharp while away from the PGA Tour.”

PHASE II – LAKE CLUB RENOVATION
Lake Toxaway completed “Phase II” of its comprehensive club renovation plan with the opening of an all-new Lake Club amenity in the summer of 2020.
The project, led by Architect Mark Diedrich with KUO Diedrich took advantage of the natural drop in elevation toward the lake, allowing a stunning, unobstructed lake view while enjoying the new 3,000 square foot heated pool complete with wading shelf, bubblers, and a perimeter overflow edge. For fitness users, the pool is well-suited for water aerobics and two lap lanes strategically placed and marked across the bottom of the pool.
A Youth Activities building is adjacent to the pool allowing the youngest members of the Club access to air hockey, ping-pong and other various games. A new sidewalk and landscaped entrance with a gate greets visitors arriving at the new pool. The pool deck provides ample opportunities to sun bathe and sit with family and friends under shaded umbrellas with plenty of lounging space. The expansive deck area is also perfect for private parties or for children looking to gather and meet friends. The pool terrace also houses a new bath house with restrooms, lockers, and an outdoor shower.
The Lake Club Grille overlooks the pool and serves as a halfway house for golfers as well as a “Boaters Porch” to accommodate those visiting by boat and parked at the docks below. The Grille serves alcoholic beverages, casual fare and pizza in a relaxed atmosphere. Bathing suits and flip flops are welcome at the Grille. The Grille also serves as a convenient spot for Tennis, Croquet and Pickleball players to enjoy lunch or dinner after play.

$7 Million Clubhouse Renovation Complete
Where Luxury & Convenience Converge
Lake Toxaway Country Club’s new clubhouse is now complete following a $7 million renovation. The renovation project is the latest development in a line of property updates including more than $10 million dollars of golf course improvements since 2007.
Club members now enjoy multiple dining venues including the nationally acclaimed Firestone Bar & Grille featuring an expansive indoor and outdoor bar, casual grille area and a sweeping covered dining porch with scenic lake and golf course views. The astounding views continue in the Club’s spectacular Vanderbilt ballroom, with a new large gable window and covered porch setting the stage for memorable member dining and private events.
Improvements completed also include fully renovated men’s and ladies’ locker rooms. The men’s locker room has an adjoining card room and the ladies’ card room also serves as a private dining room in the evening. Both card rooms grant access to an outdoor porch with signature views of Lake Toxaway. The Golf Pro Shop, which was originally located within the former clubhouse, is now a beautiful stand-alone building with convenient access to all clubhouse facilities.
A completely redesigned clubhouse exterior façade featuring cedar shake siding, stone accents and rustic trim details, creates a charming lakeside lodge feel emblematic of the Lake Toxaway community. In addition, the new porte cochere and expanded main lobby, provides members with the perfect entry.
National Award – In 2018, Lake Toxaway Country Club received a prestigious 2018 Golden Fork Club award from Golf Inc. Magazine. Lake Toxaway was recognized nationally among some of the finest clubs in the country in the Most Improved Private Club Restaurant category.

Golf
A Course in Harmony With Its Setting
The private, 18-hole, Kris Spence-designed championship golf course is sculpted thoughtfully over the hills and valleys of Lake Toxaway as if it were a natural extension of the land. Indeed, it is difficult to find a more scenic mountain course in North Carolina. Silhouetted by the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains in the background, the course unfolds like a gentle breeze caressing the landscape. After completing a $9 million renovation in 2008, this award-winning course has received its fair share of awards and accolades and is an enjoyable test for golfers of all skill levels. Low handicappers can rely on pinpoint accuracy to avoid the carefully-placed hazards, while high handicappers can enjoy much-appreciated, bail-out areas and feel confident playing more conservative shots.
The course is open to Lake Toxaway Country Club members with golf privileges and their guests. Open April through November, this is a course that presents new challenges and discoveries with every round. Weekly events include Ladies’ Day on Tuesday mornings, Men’s Day on Wednesday mornings, and Twilight Golf on Thursday afternoons. Lessons and clinics for adults and children are available from our PGA professional staff. Golf carts, rental clubs, and club storage are available at the Pro Shop.
The incredible golf operations team at Lake Toxaway Country Club includes PGA Director of Golf Lou Biago, who has enjoyed 36+ seasons at the Club. In addition, the Club recently welcomed Will Bartram as Head Golf Professional. Will is a “Class A” PGA Member, with many years of experience at some of Georgia’s top private clubs including Cherokee Town & Country Club, Hawks Ridge Golf Club and Druid Hills Golf Club.

Tennis
Professional Tennis Center
There’s more to club life than golf. Near the shoreline, Lake Toxaway’s professional caliber tennis facilities include five Har-Tru, fast-dry courts, and a first-rate Pro Shop to accommodate many of our members – both men and women – who actively play tennis. Courts are open from May to October, depending upon weather. We also organize scheduled tennis events, including Men’s Day on Tuesday mornings, and Ladies’ Day on Wednesday mornings. We also plan regular social events and friendly round-robin tournaments. Our onsite USPTA professional, Kenny Lovett, offers private lessons and clinics for adults and children who want to sharpen their game during the summer season.

Croquet
A World-Class Croquet Facility
There are few clubs across the country that can offer croquet, much less a championship-quality facility that is truly world class. Located lakeside by the Tennis Facility, our two bentgrass croquet lawns are carefully nurtured and kept in perfect condition for play May through October. Most people know croquet as a leisurely backyard game, unlike the more traditional, formal style of play we offer here. The players are dressed in “whites” from head to toe, the rules are strictly enforced, the play is precise, and the competition is serious, yet enjoyable.
To improve your game, basic and advanced instruction is available from our Tennis and Croquet Professional, Kenny Lovett, as well as mentoring from Mallet Club members. For more information about croquet at Lake Toxaway Country Club, contact the Tennis and Croquet Pro Shop at (828) 966-4262.
