MEET ROY BRASINGTON

Raised in Columbia, SC, Roy was a classmate of Reg Heinitsh Jr. He was on the track team, and a member of the SC Allstate Chorus. A graduate of Furman University with majors in history and business administration, Roy was also on cross country teams and a varsity cheerleader.

Following college, Roy served as an officer in the US Army with assignments in the armor tank command, Army club management, and a liaison officer in protocol services of the State Department. He received the Army Commendation Medal while stationed in Germany, and the Bronze Star for service in Vietnam.

Returning to Columbia, he worked in all facets of his family electrical supply business rising to president and serving on the board of the National Association of Electrical Distributors representing North and South Carolina.

Roy enjoyed visiting Lake Toxaway and staying at the Greystone Inn. In 1988 and again in 1989, he booked the entire inn for a weekend with friends. Most of these friends had never been to Lake Toxaway and several became property owners. In late 1992, Reg invited Roy to join the Lake Toxaway Company.

So, Roy moved to Lake Toxaway and began working in real estate sales and meeting the Toxaway family of property owners, staff, and employees. Five years later a friend introduced him to Edie, who was visiting Lake Toxaway, and they were married at the Lake Toxaway Country Club on Labor Day, 1998. Together they share four married children, three grandchildren, and “Buddy” their golden retriever in residence.

After working with the Lake Toxaway Company for over twelve years, Roy joined a real estate firm down the mountain in Brevard to primarily work on real estate development projects. But in March of 2009, Roy rejoined the Lake Toxaway Co. and is working in familiar territory, the Greystone Sales Office adjacent to the marina.

“I enjoyed the experience in Brevard and the people that I was associated with, but kept missing Lake Toxaway. Working at Lake Toxaway is similar to working in a campus setting. There are fine people that work and live here among some very spectacular scenery. Returning to Lake Toxaway is like coming back home. For me, there is a very special sense of place here.”
